Storm of Thoughts: Joy Work Poetry

Storm of Thoughts

Joy Work Poetry

I remember searching for the blue
The calm of the clear sky
The deep hue of waves riding in the ocean
The soft stream just below my skin
I look to see grace there
But I had forgotten how it’d feel

I dreamt of those places
Safe and comfortable
where I knew the pull of gift and life
Gratitude and gentleness

Instead I’d fall back into the black
Not mystery though it is one
But the darkness of doubt and judgement
Where can I go to find compassion?
Where do I look to feel a growing kindness?

Slowly slowly I slip into the green spaces
Learn to ride the red stem from the brown branches
Slide onto the smooth cool stretching of my expanding leaves
Spread my body flat along its inner folds
Let my hands dive deep into the newness of Spring unfolding
Savor the trust of the returning Sun

Come find me here
See my stillness and listen for my voice
My life expanding into each season
and I will not judge myself by it
